Danish Constitution

The Constitution was signed on 5 June 1953.

Danish Court System

Unlike in many other countries, the all courts of law in Denmark have the power to adjudicate disputes in legal areas such as civil, labour, administrative and constitutional law as well as criminal justice. Also, the Monarch appoints the Judges directly. Since 1999, two quasi-autonomous non-governmental organizations have been setup and are responsible for the appointments and administration of Judges.

The hierarchy of courts is as follows:

  • County Courts
  • High Courts
  • Supreme Court of Denmark
