Judiciary of Cuba

  • The People's Supreme Court (Tribunal Supremo Popular)(Supreme Court of Cuba) is the highest court of justice in the country. It is headed by a President and is equipped with a vice president, and all professional and lay judges and is structured as follows: the Whole, the Council of State, criminal, civil, administrative, labor, crimes-against-the-state and military courts.
  • The next court in hierarchy is the Superior Courts that are set up for every province.
  • The Courts of First Instance is the court on all major criminal matters, civil cases, juvenile cases, administrative law, and labor law.
  • The Courts of Peace rule on small claims and minor criminal offenses such as petty theft.
